Sometimes things aren’t as they appear

Sometimes things aren’t as they appear.  Exhibit A:

In my first shopping trip to a Migros Supermarket in Switzerland, I bought a dozen eggs.  Later that day, I grabbed a couple out of the box to add to Nigella’s Croque Monsiuer Bake.  They seemed a bit tough to crack. Thick shells?  No, they were actually boiled eggs.

Being able to buy boiled eggs at the supermarket could be handy but you’d have to be awfully hungry to need a dozen.  I’m thinking you’d also have to be awfully lazy.

Now we buy our ‘bio eier‘ at the local farm shop so there is no danger of them being hard boiled, unless the chickens have been sitting in the sun.

Perhaps they are for egg salad addicts?

Jen, now thinking an egg and lettuce sandwich might be nice for lunch

    Hya *wave*

They are called picnic eggs here in Switzerland. You buy them before going off on a hike, to put in your kids' lunch box …. or even to take on a picnic.

Greetings from Bremgarten. Working on house exchanges for 2013. Anyone interested?
