I don’t mind a choc/mint combination but it’s not something I seek out. I’m more a gummy bear or jelly bean kind of girl. The other day I was in Canberra when a friend bought each of us a low fat sugar fix for a long afternoon meeting that lay ahead. It was a Nestle Mint Pattie. Talk about a blast from the past! In the old days, Mint Pattie was made by MasterCraft but they’ve gone the way of most Australian snack and confectionery manufacturers and have been swallowed up by the megacorps.

It’s been a long, long time since I had a Mint Pattie but they do seem a little different from what I recall.
* Dark (fake) chocolate exterior – ✓
* Contrasting minty flavour – ✓
* Fluffy, firm white filling – err, not really
Yes, the filling is still white but the fluffiness has been replaced with gumminess. Not to worry. A Mint Pattie is never going to be the pinnacle of artisan chocolate but for $1, what would I expect? This was a great little trip down memory lane so it was well worth the modest price of admission.
