Flashback – Mint Pattie

I don’t mind a choc/mint combination but it’s not something I seek out. I’m more a gummy bear or jelly bean kind of girl. The other day I was in Canberra when a friend bought each of us a low fat sugar fix for a long afternoon meeting that lay ahead.  It was a Nestle Mint Pattie.  Talk about a blast from the past!  In the old days, Mint Pattie was made by MasterCraft but they’ve gone the way of most Australian snack and confectionery manufacturers and have been swallowed up by the megacorps.

Nestled (geddit?) in my pot of Mint

It’s been a long, long time since I had a Mint Pattie but they do seem a little different from what I recall.
*  Dark (fake) chocolate exterior –
*  Contrasting minty flavour –
*  Fluffy, firm white filling – err, not really

Yes, the filling is still white but the fluffiness has been replaced with gumminess.  Not to worry.  A Mint Pattie is never going to be the pinnacle of artisan chocolate but for $1, what would I expect?  This was a great little trip down memory lane so it was well worth the modest price of admission.   If you want another sweet blast from the past, follow this link to a description of Show Bag contents in 1988 (remember Scorched Peanut Bars?)

    Thanks for the trip down memory lane! I liked the occasional mint pattie back then. With your flourishing pot of mint, you may enjoy making my choc mint ice cream. It is a cracker!

I love comments. What are your thoughts?
